Riparian Preserve Volunteers Needed: 

• Volunteer Saturdays- If you have always wanted to help out at the Riparian Preserve, this is your opportunity. Volunteers will assist with weeding, trimming, raking, litter clean up, etc. in the Preserve.  This opportunity is open to children over the age of 8, though they must be accompanied by an adult or guardian, and a youth liability waiver must be submitted prior to beginning the first shift. Dates: January 17, February 14 and March 14 Registration link

• Camp Assistant
  The volunteer role is to assist our Riparian Instructors in the daily activities.

Special Events -KAPOW! Superhero Adventure Run| Freestone Park | March 21, 2026 | 7am-Noon
30 volunteers of all ages are needed to assist runners with navigating the course (water stations, set up/tear down, etc.). Register HERE!

Freestone Recreation Center- Spring Break Kidz Kamp
The volunteer role is to assist Kidz Kamp Leaders in the daily activities. Shifts: March 9-13 or March 16-20; 7:30am-12:30pm or 12:30p-5:30pm. Register Here

Day of Service to Seniors | Saturday, January 13, 2026 | 7:30am- 11:30am
Volunteers will serve our elderly and homebound residents with light household and yard tasks. Register Here

Point in Time Homeless (PIT) Count| Tuesday, January 27, 2026 | 5:30am - 11:30 am
Volunteers will interview the unsheltered population with the Town of Gilbert boundaries. The count will take place between 5:30a- 11:30am.  Volunteers can also donate supplies to create a kit to be distributed during the count.  Donations can include socks, Chapstick, band-aids, hand warmers, waterless shampoo, combs, and Kleenex. Register Here 

Regional Unity Walk | Saturday, January 24, 2026 | 4:30p-6:30p
Gilbert residents are invited to join our neighboring cities as we "Walk for Unity in our Community to promote mutual respect and understanding".  The event is held at Tempe Beach Park and includes refreshments, entertainment and t-shirts.  The entertainment begins at 4:30 with the one mile walk kicking off at 6:00pm.  No registration required 

Community Connect Expo | Saturday, February 7, 2026 | 7:00am - 1:00pm
Volunteer roles are available before, during, and after the event, the resource and volunteer fair so there’s a way for everyone to get involved—no matter your schedule! Register Here

Gilbert MVP Volunteer Awards - Nominations open until January 30th, 2026! 
Gilbert's incredible volunteers from various sectors come together daily to support our community and exemplify the town's values of being Driven, Kind, Humble, and Bold. We are excited to recognize our most dedicated volunteers through the Gilbert Community Volunteer MVP program, and we encourage all groups with volunteers to nominate individuals for one of the four value awards or Youth of the Year and Gilbert Group Kindness Award.

Court Ordered Community Service is offered to those 18 years and older.  Physical labor is required and work is conducted outdoors and under the supervision of Park staff. Register online.

Prospective Eagle Scouts - We encourage you to visit park sites in the community and see what needs improvement. The town does not have a “standing list” of projects. An internet search can also yield many project ideas.
