Adaptive Recreation-Program overview
Gilbert offers a wide variety of activities and programs for participants ages 14+ years with adaptive recreation needs. Activities include dances, bowling, karaoke, cheerleading, movies and more. All of our programs and activities are designed to be fun, with an emphasis on meeting people and establishing new friendships. It is our hope that our programs will enrich the lives of our participants. Classes have limited availability and are fill up quickly so sign up to reserve your spot today. We are continually updating and revising classes/programs to best fit the needs of our participants now and in the future. It is our objective to aid in the building of lifelong friendships as well individual life skills. It is our hope that our programs will enrich the lives of our participants.

For individuals wanting to volunteer with our Special Olympics team, please download the Unified Sports Partner Release Form.
Special Olympics Sports & Competitions 2017
SPECIAL OLYMPICS CHEER & DANCE: Let’s Go Gilbert! Join our gold medal team and have a blast learning cheers, chants, and dances! Cheerleaders will have the opportunity to participate in the Special Olympics Cheer competition in February. This activity gives participants a chance to belong to a team, make new friends, increase coordination and enhance self-esteem. Practices are held at the Gilbert Community Center, 130 N. Oak St. Gilbert, AZ 85233. East Valley Cheer Competition held Saturday, February 11th at Red Mountain High School. Medical Release forms due January 18th, NO EXCEPTIONS! 12+ YEARS 5148 T 1/10-3/7 4:30-6pm $45/$5 per week
Volunteer with Gilbert's Adaptive Recreation Program
Ways you can get involved:
- Bowling - Interact with and encourage bowlers, help develop friendships and record scores.
- Special Olympics Unified Cheerleading - Assist in coaching or participate in routines to help build self-esteem.
- Recreation Classes - Assist recreation instructors with their classes.
- Friday Night Events - Socialize with the participants, assist with various event responsibilities.
