Program Overview

Gilbert Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of activities and programs for participants ages 14+ years with adaptive recreation needs. Activities include dances, bowling, karaoke, cheerleading, movies and more. All of our programs and activities are designed to be fun, with an emphasis on meeting people and establishing new friendships. It is our hope that our programs will enrich the lives of our participants. Classes have limited availability and are fill up quickly so sign up to reserve your spot today. Feel free to email us if you have any questions. 

Gilbert Parks and Recreation offers a wide range of recreation opportunities available for people of all abilities. Inclusion services are available for patrons with disabilities wishing to participate in recreation programs offered by the Gilbert Parks and Recreation Department.

If you or your child has a disability, behavior concern, severe allergy, or other condition requiring accommodation, please let us know at the time of registration. Please note that our ability to provide support staff may be limited due to the number of requests and staff availability.

Special Olympics Arizona

Learn about Special Olympics Arizona by visiting their website. For individuals participating in Cheerleading and Bowling programs, please download the Special Olympics Athletic Medical Release form. For individuals wanting to volunteer with our Special Olympics team, please download the Unified Sports Partner Release form.

Volunteer

 Ways you can get involved:

  • Bowling: Interact with and encourage bowlers, help evelop friendships and record scores.
  • Special Olympics Unified Cheerleading: Assist in coaching or participate in routines to help build self-esteem.
  • Recreation Classes: Assist recreation instructors with their classes.
  • Friday Night Events: Socialize with the participants, assist with various event responsibilities.
