Emergency preparedness begins with people taking responsibility for their own safety. Recent catastrophic events have shown that help may not arrive for at least 72 hours (3 days). Depending on the severity of the emergency help may take longer to respond.

Being aware of available resources and prepared in the home, with a game plan for yourself and loved one(s) is the first line of defense in an emergency.
