Gilbert, Ariz. – The Gilbert Town Council AZCares Subcommittee has allocated $400,000 to offer discounted recreation programming to Gilbert residents in hopes of providing relief to those who have faced financial burdens brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beginning November 30th, 2020, recreation programming will be automatically discounted 50% off for Gilbert residents registering through GilbertRecreation.com until the funds have been exhausted. Funds will be allocated in increments of $100,000 per session. Fund allocation may be re-evaluated based on participation. The discount will not apply to adult sports leagues.

“The challenges brought upon us by the COVID-19 pandemic have certainly emphasized how parks and recreation programs are an essential piece to support a thriving community,” said Gilbert Parks and Recreation Manager, John Kennedy. “It is through these programs that we are able to engage, entertain and educate families while providing support to the physical and mental wellbeing of our residents.”
