On March 3, 2020 the Town of Gilbert called an election by approving Resolution 4118. The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 for the purpose of electing a Mayor, two Councilmembers (4-year terms) and one Councilmember (2-year term). A General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 if needed.

Special General Plan Ratification Election – August 4, 2020 

The Primary Ballot will also include the following proposition:

Prop 430: Proposal to the voters for ratification of the 2020 Gilbert General Plan, as adopted by the Town Council on February 4, 2020, Resolution No. 4114. The 2020 Gilbert General Plan is a statement of land development policies that sets forth objectives, principles and standards for growth and redevelopment. On March 3, 2020 the Gilbert Town Council passed Resolution 4118 authorizing a special election for ratifying the 2020 Gilbert General Plan to be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. This ballot also includes candidates for Mayor and Town Council. A publicity pamphlet with information on Proposition 430 Town of Gilbert 2020 General Plan will be mailed to every household with a registered voter in the Town of Gilbert. Important Primary Election Dates

  • July 6, 2020: Last day to register to vote in the Primary Election
  • July 8, 2020: Early voting begins
  • August 4, 2020: Primary Election Day

Voter Registration

To vote in the Primary Election, residents must be registered with Maricopa County Elections by July 6, 2020. Voter registration forms may also be obtained from the Maricopa County Recorder at:

Early Voting, By Mail

Registered voters may request a ballot by mail, by phone, or through the Maricopa County Elections website.

Phone requests for ballots may be made by contacting Maricopa County Elections at (602) 506-1511. Persons requesting a ballot over the phone need to provide their name and address, date of birth, and voter identification number (if available).

Early Voting, In Person

Persons who wish to cast an early ballot may do so a beginning July 8, 2020. A list of early voting sites may be obtained from the Maricopa County Recorder at:

Election Day Information

Polls will be open on Election Day, August 4, 2020 from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Persons in line at 7:00 p.m. will be permitted to cast a ballot.
