Each year, the Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) sponsors Student Government Day, an opportunity for high school students to learn about the inner workings of local government and provide input on Town initiatives.

Gilbert's next Student Government Day is February 24, 2021.

Each year, the Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) sponsors Student Government Day, an opportunity for high school students to learn about the inner workings of local government and provide input on Town initiatives. 

What to Expect: 

  • Morning: Students will shadow a member of Gilbert’s leadership team and participate in a mock Town Council meeting. During the meeting, students will take on the role of the Mayor, Council members, Town management, local business leaders, and concerned citizens.
  • Afternoon: Students will participate in a discussion about issues facing youth in Gilbert and provide feedback on current Town initiatives.
  • High School Student
  • Attends a Gilbert school (include those being home schooled) or lives within the Town of Gilbert
