Heat Relief Summary

Heat Relief Community Support and Annual Report

Get Involved

Thank you to all our generous donors, we have enough water for the remainder of the Heat Relief program.

In 2024, 595 people died in Maricopa County due to the heat. Gilbert had 4 individuals who died due to the heat in 2024.

That’s a 7.75% decrease in heat-related deaths compared to 2023.

More than half of the deaths occurred in the month of July last year and 45% of individuals who succumbed to the heat were experiencing homelessness,

Gilbert has partnered with the Maricopa Association of Governments and other organizations again this year to support the Heat Relief Network.

From now through Labor Day, Gilbert is collecting bottled water and other donations to help provide relief for our community's most vulnerable populations during the hot summer months.

Local businesses, residents, and volunteer groups are encouraged to donate. Sun Safety items can be purchased on Amazon and will be delivered to Gilbert Town Hall for distribution.

Large water donations can be delivered to Midwest Food Bank who will be the distribution to Respite Sites throughout the summer. Contact mfbarizona@midwestfoodbank.org or call 480-892-0134 to schedule a water donation.

Midwest Food Bank located at 725 E. Baseline Road Gilbert, AZ 85233.

Midwest Food Bank Water Donation drop off: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM-11:00 AM
