Hugh White serves as a Lieutenant at the Gilbert Police Department. He is currently assigned to the Office of Professional Standards. Hugh has been with the Gilbert Police Department since 1994.

As a Tempe native, Hugh attended Arizona State University on an academic scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Justice Studies in 1997. Hugh also earned his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University. Hugh is a command college graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command and the Arizona Center for Leadership Studies Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) Program.

Since joining the Gilbert PD, Hugh has held a variety of assignments to include Patrol, Crime Prevention, Criminal Investigations, Internal Affairs, and the Public Information Office. He was promoted to sergeant in 2004 and to lieutenant in 2007. In 2010, Hugh served as a Police Commander in the Support Services Division while the Department was reorganized and the Support Services Division was restructured.

Hugh has been awarded Supervisor of the Quarter, Town Employee of the Quarter, Distinguished Service Citation, nominated for Employee of the Year twice, and received a Distinguished Team Citation for Persons Crimes Investigations.

Hugh is a devoted Sun Devil fan. He spends most of his time watching sports, going to movies, and refining the art of relaxation with his wife, Enedina, and two children.
