Gilbert Provides More than 100,000 Meals for Families in Need
Gilbert, Ariz. – More than 100,000 meals will stock the shelves of the United Food Bank pantry thanks to the Gilbert Feeding Families Community Food Drive. The month-long fundraiser culminated at Thursday’s weigh-in event as the community exceeded their goal of raising 72,600 meals by raising 120,453 meals. The 72,600 meal goal was set to coincide with Gilbert’s 72.6 miles.
A bag-off competition, a preschool can drive competition and internal Gilbert spirit days were some of the key events that helped motivate residents and Gilbert employees to donate and have fun. Several business partners also gave generously to the cause.
United Food Bank President and CEO, Ginny Hildebrand, says the outpouring of support is a reflection of this community.
“This community really cares about their
neighbors and that’s what’s important,” she said.
