Partnership Builds Path for New Regional Park
Gilbert, Ariz.- Through an agreement with Maricopa County, Gilbert, Arizona has acquired a 211-acre piece of property located south of Queen Creek Road and west of Higley Road that will be developed into a new regional park.
This video explains how the land was acquired through a unique agreement with Maricopa County and involved the collaboration of the County, Gilbert’s Mayor and Council, and Town Manager, Patrick Banger.
“Working on this project with the county was a real pleasure. From our two supervisors, Steve Chucri and Denny Barney, to our County Manager Tom Manos and the Assistant County Manager, Joy Rich; they were outstanding to work with,” said Banger.
“Gilbert residents are county residents, and at no cost to the county they will have a world class recreational facility in Gilbert,” said County Manager Tom Manos.
In the next few years, residents will enjoy recreational use of the Chandler Heights Basin property thanks to this Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the Flood Control District of Maricopa County and Gilbert, Arizona.
