Gilbert, Ariz. – The Town of Gilbert has launched a new Instagram account, @GrowinUpGilbert, created as a single, youth‑friendly hub for middle and high school students and their families.
With more than 80,000 residents under the age of 18, the Town continues to expand its youth engagement efforts. Growin’ Up Gilbert, led by the Office of Communications & Engagement, is the newest initiative developed in response to a recommendation from the Community Engagement Task Force, which identified a gap in how the Town reaches younger residents.
The platform will serve as a centralized source for youth programs, community events, volunteer opportunities, leadership initiatives, safety education, and stories that highlight students shaping Gilbert’s future.
“As Gilbert continues to grow, it’s important that we create meaningful ways to connect with our young people where they already are,” said Kandice Kwan, Chief Communications Officer. “Growin’ Up Gilbert is more than a social media account; it’s part of a larger effort to help youth feel connected to their community, understand available resources, and build positive relationships with the people who serve them.”
The initiative supports the Town’s broader goal of meeting youth where they are while streamlining information that often spans multiple departments. Instead of teens or families following several accounts, Growin’ Up Gilbert brings updates together in one accessible, engaging feed designed with a younger audience in mind.
Town staff are collaborating with school partners to introduce Growin’ Up Gilbert to students and families as the account builds its following.
The Town encourages students, parents, educators, and community members to follow @GrowinUpGilbert as the new school year approaches.
