Gilbert, Ariz. - With several monsoon storms in the forecast for Gilbert, now is the time to prepare. Whether you're looking for sandbag locations, road safety reminders or storm resources, here's what you need to know before the next storm arrives.

Sand for sandbags is available while supplies last at the following Gilbert Fire & Rescue stations. Please bring your own shovel.

• Gilbert Fire Station 9
  3355 E. Ocotillo Road

Monsoon storms can quickly reduce visibility and create dangerous driving conditions. If you encounter heavy rain, blowing dust or flooding:

• Slow down and avoid driving through flooded roadways or areas with standing water.
• If visibility becomes too poor to drive safely, remember: Pull Aside. Stay Alive.

If you need to stop:

• Pull completely off the roadway.
• Put your vehicle in park and set the parking brake.
• Turn off all your lights, including your emergency flashers. Other drivers may mistake your parked vehicle for one that is still moving and follow you off the road.
• Stay inside your vehicle until conditions improve.

If you see a fallen tree or debris blocking the roadway, call the Gilbert Police Department's non-emergency line at (480) 503-6500.

For hazards that are not blocking the roadway and don't require an immediate response, submit a request through Gilbert 311 at gilbertaz.gov/311.
