Public Hearings Scheduled for FY 2026-27 Proposed Secondary Property Tax Levy

Post Date:04/08/2026 5:53 PM

Gilbert, Ariz.- The Town of Gilbert has posted a Notice of Intent to increase the Fiscal Year 2026-27 tax levy which will maintain the same property tax rate as the past three years.

Gilbert does not impose a primary property tax for funding general operations like public safety or parks, relying instead on sales tax revenue for these expenses. However, it does have a secondary property tax dedicated to repaying debt from voter-approved bonds. These funds are restricted to the purposes outlined in the bond initiatives. Each year, the Gilbert Town Council must approve the secondary property tax levy and its rate.

The proposed levy for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 is $36.635 million ($.9800 tax rate per $100 of assessed property value).

The first public hearing on the proposed tax levy will take place on Tuesday, May 19 at 6:30 PM in the Town Council Chambers, 50 E. Civic Center Drive.

A second and final hearing will be held, followed by Town Council discussion and a vote on the proposed tax levy during the Council meeting on Tuesday, June 9, at 6:30 PM in the Town Council Chambers.

All Gilbert Town Council Meetings are open to the public, and viewable live at  gilbertaz.gov/live

The public is welcome to participate in the process.
