Park Ranger Rescues Rabbit at the Riparian Preserve

Post Date:01/08/2026 12:10 PM

Gilbert, Ariz.- Gilbert Park Ranger Tim responded to a call about a rabbit that had become lodged in the wheel well of a vehicle at the Riparian Preserve. After assessing the situation, Ranger Tim carefully removed part of the wheel well cover to safely access the animal.

With quick thinking and a calm, patient approach, the rabbit was freed without injury and hopped off to the preserve.

Gilbert’s parks are shared spaces for people and wildlife, and situations like this can happen more often than you might expect. If you encounter an injured animal or wildlife in distress in a Gilbert park, please contact the Gilbert Park Ranger Hotline at 480-503-6263 and press 1. Rangers are trained to respond safely and help protect both people and animals.

Gilbert Parks and Recreation thanks Ranger Tim for his compassion and professionalism, and thanks our community member for calling it in and giving staff the opportunity to help.
