Gilbert Storm Preparation

Post Date:09/15/2014 1:38 PM

sandbagsGilbert, Ariz. - The National Weather Service is predicting another round of heavy rains for the region starting as early as Tuesday evening due to Hurricane Odile. We are encouraging residents to prepare in advance of the storm. Sandbags are available for pick-up at the following Gilbert Fire Stations:

Fire Station 1
2730 E. Williams Field Road (Williams Field Road between Higley and the 202)

Fire Station 3
1011 E. Guadalupe Road (Guadalupe/Lindsay Roads)

Fire Station 11
2860 E. Riggs Road (Riggs/Higley Roads)

In order to ensure that we have enough sand and bags for the community through the remainder of the storm, fire stations 1, 3 and 11 will be limiting each person to 15 sandbags. Should you need additional bags, feel free to bring heavy-duty garbage bags to fill with sand as an alternative. We appreciate your understanding.

In light of last week's rain, and in anticipation of potential rain this week, please help us prevent mosquitoes by removing any standing water. To learn more about preventing mosquitoes, visit Maricopa County's website.

Also, a friendly reminder to all residents, please do not swim or recreate in storm water.

Please follow @GilbertYourTown on Twitter for the latest updates regarding potential flooding and/or road closures related to the storm. If you experience flooding and need assistance, please call 480-503-6400.
