Gilbert, Ariz. - The Gilbert Town Council has approved increases in utility rates for wastewater (sewer) and reclaimed water services for Gilbert residents and businesses. During the public hearing at the Council's regular meeting on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, the Council voted for the ALT B: All Cash option for wastewater rates.

This increase will fully fund repairs, replacements, and maintenance of sewer infrastructure without debt. Customers can expect an increase of $29.26 to their monthly utility bill starting this April.

Council members thanked the community for their input and acknowledged the difficulty of the decision, emphasizing the importance of ongoing investment in securing Gilbert's long-term water supply, ensuring a sustainable future for the community. They also noted this issue is not unique to Gilbert, as cities throughout the Valley are experiencing similar challenges.

To prepare for the upcoming changes this April, Gilbert residents and businesses can use the online utility bill calculator to see how the rate increase will affect their monthly bill.

In February 2024, Council approved the Utility Billing Assistance Program which was created for crisis prevention and to assist Gilbert utility customers facing financial challenges. The Town is currently reviewing data to improve the program’s effectiveness and will adjust as needed.
