GILBERT, Ariz.- Emergency response times for Gilbert residents will soon improve, after officials broke ground on a new fire station building on Friday. Fire Station 7 will be relocating from its current location on Cooper Road south of Guadalupe to the intersection of Cooper and Warner Roads.
During the ground-breaking, council member Victor Petersen talked about the importance of improving response times for the growing population in Gilbert.
“This is a great expenditure. This makes a lot of sense for the citizens,” he said, “This is going to help save lives.”
Response times are predicted to improve from about seven minutes to four. Gilbert Fire and Rescue Chief Jim Jobusch also spoke at the event.
“We’ve been working long and hard to get this station in place and get it open so we can provide better service.” he said.
The station is set to open in the Summer of 2015.
