Gilbert, AZ - On April 18, 2024, shortly after 2:00 AM, Gilbert PD received multiple calls regarding an injury collision at the intersection of Williams Field and Recker Roads.
Information gathered in the investigation revealed a pick-up truck, driven by 23-year-old Harrison Ward, was traveling the wrong way headed eastbound in the westbound lanes of Williams Field Road at a high rate of speed. Ward’s vehicle collided head-on with a 4-door passenger vehicle traveling westbound on Williams Field Road. After striking the passenger car, the pick-up truck veered right, into a center median light pole. The pick-up truck kept traveling east, before coming to rest just east of the intersection at Recker Road.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Anastasia Dombrowski, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Ward was transported to the hospital for precautionary measures, released, and arrested by the Gilbert Police Department. Ward was later booked into the custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office on charges of A.R.S. § 13-1104(A) 2nd Degree Murder and A.R.S. § 28-1383(A)(5) Aggravated DUI. The investigation remains ongoing.
Gilbert PD would like to remind the public that charged offenses are merely allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent until pleading guilty or being found guilty.
