Local Radio Station Teams Up to Feed Gilbert Families
Gilbert, Ariz. - June is a hot time of year to get duct-taped to a flagpole, but local radio station, KMLE Country 107.9 DJs Steve and Nina did just that in downtown Gilbert on Monday. It was all to raise money and food donations for the Gilbert Feeding Families Community Food Drive. The radio station partnered with Gilbert and the American Legion Post 39 to help raise donations for the food drive as the KMLE Country DJs continued their quest to earn a key to the city. They were tied to the flagpole for an hour while trying to reach their goal of 1,709 meals. Mayor John Lewis was there to present the key to the city and encouraged everyone to continue donating to the food drive throughout the month of June.
Donation drop off sites are located around Gilbert, including all of the fire stations, recreation centers, libraries, and Town Hall. You can also donate online at www.gilbertaz.gov/feedingfamilies.
