Gilbert NewsHello, Gilbert! Here are the top news and events for the week of February 10th:

  • Do you know a junior high or high school student interested in coding, creating games and competing for big prizes? Register for the 2020 SPARK Game Jam on April 29th and 30th at Arizona State University's Polytechnic Campus! Whether you’re an expert or you’ve never coded before, we’ve got a competition for you. Head to sparkappleague.com to register.

  • You’re invited to the Gilbert Outdoor Expo from 9 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, February 22nd at the Riparian Preserve. This free community event will include demonstrations and information on various outdoor activities including fishing, camping, hunting, hiking and more. There will also be a ropes course, dinosaur exhibit and axe throwing. More information can be found at gilbertaz.gov/outdoors.

  • We’re looking for volunteers for Gilbert's 10th Annual Water Festival on March 4-5th. This two-day water education event features hands-on activities for Gilbert fourth graders while teaching water stewardship. No experience needed! More information can be found here

  • The Gilbert Water Tower will be lit red, white and pink for Valentine’s Day this Friday, February 14th. Swing by the Heritage District to catch a glimpse of it in person. Submit your own request

  • Other events taking place this week include an Open House and Public Hearing for a proposed change to Gilbert’s paratransit service area at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 11th followed by a Parks and Recreation Board Meeting at 6 PM that same night. All Gilbert municipal offices will be closed on Monday, February 17th for Presidents Day. Trash and collection services will not be impacted.
