Gilbert NewsHello, Gilbert! Here are the top news and events for the week of January 27th:

  • It’s finally here – the 2020 Digital State of the Town is now available online! This annual documentary-style video is hosted by Mayor Jenn Daniels and highlights Gilbert’s past accomplishments and outlines our future plans during the community’s centennial year. Head to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to see this year’s Digital State of the Town now. You can also watch online at gilbertaz.gov/stateofthetown.

  • Truck lovers unite! Gilbert Parks & Recreation invites you to Truck-A-Palooza this Saturday, February 1st from 9 AM to 1 PM at Desert Sky Park, on Power Rd between Williams Field and Pecos Roads. Come climb aboard and explore the 35 vehicles on site and meet the first responders who operate them. The event is free to attend and there will be food trucks available to purchase refreshments. Head to gilbertaz.gov/events for more information.

  • Gilbert is proud to offer bulk trash service to residents every five weeks, but our trash and recycling team needs your help to keep our neighborhoods clean between collection weeks. Download our 2020 bulk trash schedule so you never miss a pickup. And remember, bulk trash items should be placed in the street, against the curb, no earlier than the Saturday before your collection week and no later than 5 AM on the Monday of your collection week. Visit gilbertaz.gov/trash to get your 2020 bulk trash schedule.

  • Have you heard about Gilbert 311? It’s the quickest and easiest way for residents to report issues around town, like streetlight outages, road hazards and more! Simply snap a photo of the issue, download our free Gilbert 311 app and you’ll be connected directly to the department that can help you solve it. Learn more at gilbertaz.gov/311.

  • The Gilbert Water Tower will be lit blue this Tuesday, January 28th in memory of fallen Gilbert Police Lieutenant Eric Shuhandler, who was shot and killed during a traffic stop in 2010. Rest in peace, Lieutenant Shuhandler.
