Gilbert NewsHello, Gilbert! Here are the top news and events for the week of December 2nd:

  • Gilbert’s annual Holiday Lights Contest is back by popular demand! Submit a photo of your holiday lights display through our free Gilbert 311 app to be featured on the town’s interactive map and earn a chance to win a custom Gilbert Water Tower ornament! The contest runs through December 19th. Head to for all the details.

  • Join us at the Riparian Preserve this Friday and Saturday, December 6th and 7th, from 5:30 to 9 PM to see nature come alive with a holiday glow. Stroll around the candle-lit trail at Water Ranch lake and enjoy the festive light displays at every turn while taking in the evening’s live holiday entertainment. Head to for more information. 

  • Are you ready for some softball? Gilbert’s first annual Bases & Badges softball game between Gilbert’s police and fire & rescue departments takes place at 5:30 PM this Friday, December 6th at Cactus Yards. The event is free, but fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or clothing item to benefit the departments’ holiday toy drives. After the game, kids will be invited onto the field for a kickball game with the police officers and firefighters. RSVP on Gilbert Town Hall’s Facebook page.

  • Gilbert Parks & Recreation is teaming up with the Arizona Game and Fish Department for Gilbert’s annual Youth Fishing Day from 8 AM to noon this Saturday, December 7th at Discovery Park, located on the northeast corner of Santan Village Parkway and Pecos Road. This is a free event and there will be fishing gear and bate available for the first 100 participants. We hope you’ll join us for a morning of making memories on the water.

  • Other events taking place this week include a Planning and Commission Meeting at 5 PM on Wednesday, December 4th, a Town Council subcommittee meeting on Land Development Code at 7 AM on Thursday, December 5th followed by a meeting on Board and Commission Application, Screening, Interview & Selection at 5 PM and a Regular Town Council Meeting at 6:30 PM that same day.
