Gilbert NewsHello, Gilbert! Here are the top news and events for the week of October 7th:

  • You’re invited to the 20thanniversary celebration of Gilbert’s Southeast Regional Library and the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch this Saturday, October 12th from 9 AM to 8 PM at 775 N. Greenfield Road. The all-day celebration will feature an array of events taking place inside the library and out at the preserve, including an anniversary ceremony, fishing derby, dinosaur and reptile shows, a night hike and much more.   • The Gilbert Symphony Orchestra is hosting its inaugural fall performance at Higley Center for the Performing Arts at 7 PM on Friday, October 11th. This free event will feature a variety of music throughout the show and include Halloween-themed selections in the second half. Free tickets are available at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts website,

  • Fifteen minutes could save your life! Gilbert is teaming up with Prostate On-Site Project to offer prostate cancer screenings from 7 - 11 AM on Wednesday, October 9th at the Gilbert Civic Center. The cost is $81 without insurance. Call (480) 964-3013 for more information or to make an appointment today.

  • The Gilbert Water Tower will be lit pink, teal and green from Saturday, October 12th through Monday, October 14th for Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day on October 13th. Metastatic cancer is cancer that spreads beyond the breast to nearby lymph nodes and other organs. 

  • Other events taking place this week include a Parks and Recreation Board Meeting at 6 PM on Tuesday, October 8th and a free Fall Landscape Workshop on Hummingbird and Butterfly Gardens at 6:30 PM on Thursday, October 10th.
