Gilbert NewsHello, Gilbert! Here are the top news and events for the week of July 15th:

  • Gilbert’s summer Dive-In Movie Series continues this Friday, July 19th at Williams Field Pool with Disney’s Coco. This free event is open to all ages and there will be lifeguards on duty. The pool opens at 7 PM and the movie begins at 7:45 PM.

  • Another Loop 101 freeway closure is planned for this weekend as the Arizona Department of Transportation continues work on its widening project. All northbound lanes of traffic between Warner and Baseline Roads will be closed from Friday, July 19th through Monday, July 22nd so plan accordingly for your weekend travel.

  • July is Smart Irrigation Month and Gilbert’s water conservation team has a few tips to help residents develop more efficient watering habits. For instance, did you know that watering deeper, but less often can help them establish stronger roots? Or that watering at night helps avoid evaporation?   • What’s the best ways to avoid being a victim of vehicle theft? Remember these two tips: always lock your doors and never leave your valuables. Report all suspicious activity to the Gilbert Police Department by calling 9-1-1 or the non-emergency line at (480) 503-6500. 

  • Other events this week include a Council Subcommittee on Land Development Code at 7 AM on Tuesday, June 16th and a Variance Meeting at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, June 17th
