Gilbert Girl Recycles for Rescues

Post Date:04/22/2019 3:13 PM

Gilbert, Ariz.- Every day is Earth Day for 10-year-old Oceana Anders. Oceana loves the planet and her four-legged friends. In 2018 she started “Cans for Cool Canines” where, with the help of her family, she collects cans from the Gilbert community, recycles them and donates the cash to local dog rescues.

One rescue, in particular, holds a special place in Oceana’s heart, AZ Happy Tails, where her parents rescued their dog Smokey. Smokey sadly passed away in January 2019, but this only emboldened Oceana’s passion to help dogs in need.

To date, Oceana has donated nearly $1000 to local animal rescues. She’s keeping the Gilbert community clean while helping give her furry friends a new “leash” on life. That’s true Gilbert Kindness.
