The Gilbert Police Department Joins ‘Neighbors’ by Ring to Provide Users with Real-Time, Local Crime and Safety Information

Post Date:03/05/2019 2:28 PM
Gilbert, Ariz. - The Gilbert Police Department today announced that it is joining the Neighbors app by Ring (available via iOS/Android here: to provide Gilbert, Arizona residents with real-time, local crime and safety information. The Neighbors network already has millions of users and has been instrumental in catching package thieves, stopping burglaries, and keeping neighborhoods safe.
Residents can download the free Neighbors app, join their neighborhood, and use the app to: monitor neighborhood activity; share crime and safety-related videos, photos and text-based posts; and receive real-time safety alerts from their neighbors, local law enforcement and the Ring team.
"The Gilbert Police Department is fully committed to the safety and well-being of our community and partnering with Ring through the Neighbors app will provide our officers a technological advantage when investigating crimes,” said Gilbert Police Chief Michael Soelberg. “This application is an exceptional way to connect residents and law enforcement to help us all stay informed about crimes occurring in the community. We look forward to working with Ring and the Gilbert residents to help reduce crime in our community.”
Law enforcement can only view content posted by users to the Neighbors app or content that they have decided to share with the Gilbert Police Department directly in response to a specific request.
Jamie Siminoff, Chief Inventor and Founder of Ring, said: “We’re excited to have the Gilbert Police Department join Neighbors to keep their community up-to-date on local crime and safety information. Over the past few years we have learned that, when neighbors, the Ring team and law enforcement all work together, we can create safer communities. Neighbors is meant to facilitate real-time communication between these groups, while maintaining neighbor privacy first and foremost. By bringing security to every neighbor with the free Neighbors app, the town of Gilbert can stay on top of crime and safety alerts as they happen.”
