Gilbert Process Improvement Training Saves Time and Money

Gilbert, Ariz.- Gilbert employees have a new way to save time and money with a process improvement program called EDGE Academy. The program stands for “Employees Driving Gilbert’s Excellence,” and provides tools and methods for idea development and management. The Human Resources Department hosts trainings for employees regularly, and it’s already having a positive impact.
Gilbert Fire and Rescue administrative assistant, Jasmin Jones, used the process to improve the car seat installation program, shifting from manual appointments made over the phone to a self-scheduling system through Eventbrite. Not only has the change saved time for employees but it’s improved customer service for residents and allowed for more installations to people who otherwise weren’t able to schedule.
“Some processes that are there have been there for a long time,” said Jones, “and innovation needs to happen whether it’s a small task or a large task.”
