Gilbert Breaks Ground on First Cemetery
Gilbert, Ariz.- Construction is beginning on Gilbert, Arizona’s first cemetery after officials broke ground on the 10-acre development on July 20th. Gilbert Memorial Park is located at the corner of Queen Creek Road and 156th Street and will initially include manicured gardens, a multi-purpose funeral home and tribute center.
With nearly 250,000 residents, Gilbert is the most populated municipality in the United States without a cemetery. Bunker Family Funeral Homes will own and operate the development in a 99-year agreement.
“We are thrilled that our community will soon have a permanent place to honor the lives of our residents,” said Gilbert Mayor Jenn Daniels.
Gilbert Memorial Park anticipates opening in the spring of 2019. For more information, visit gilbertmemorialpark.com.
