Gilbert, Arizona Staff Visits 90 Businesses in Northwest Corridor

Post Date:11/16/2017 4:17 PM

Gilbert, Ariz.- The Gilbert Office of Economic Development, in cooperation with Partners in Progress, hosted its third Business Walk yesterday in which volunteers surveyed local businesses door-to-door to gain feedback about their operations in Gilbert.

The goal of the walk is to gain insight into the priorities of business owners through face-to-face interviews. In three hours, more than 30 volunteers visited 90 businesses in Gilbert’s Northwest Corridor. Gilbert’s Northwest Corridor is the community’s densest employment area, primarily composed of light industrial and back office space in the science, technology, aerospace, and manufacturing sectors.

Mayor Jenn Daniels and Council Member Brigette Peterson were among the volunteers.

“Business walks allow Town staff and other community leaders to connect with the business community on their turf. The valuable face time with the business community helps us to plan better and create policy to support their growth for the future,” said Daniels.

“In the last five years, the Northwest Corridor has seen over $172 million in private investment and roughly 3.5 million square-feet developed. It is very important to stay connected to businesses as this area continues to grow,” said Dan Henderson, Director of the Gilbert Office of Economic Development.

The Gilbert Office of Economic Development recently released their Fiscal Year 2017 Annual Report detailing investment numbers and significant projects from the past five years. It can be found here: bit.ly/2goAjHU.
