"Yesterday evening, Big League Dreams (BLD) – Gilbert, LLC sent the Town a report from a structural engineer hired by BLD-Gilbert discussing results from some testing that had taken place earlier this week. Unfortunately, the two-page report does not provide enough information for anyone to make a decision about anything. The report contains no back-up or explanation for how the tests were conducted. Significantly, the report does not confirm that the outfield grandstands are safe and meet the standards under the Building Code.
Experts retained by the Town found that the outfield grandstands did not meet the standards of the Building Code and consequently, the structures were deemed dangerous and unsafe. BLD-Gilbert has not produced any reliable evidence to rebut these conclusions. Safety is the main priority of the Town and, although the Town regrets any inconvenience the Park closure may have on park users, the Park will remain closed until these safety issues have been resolved."
