Celebrate Earth Month Gilbert Style

Post Date:04/03/2017 7:00 AM

April is Earth Month and Gilbert is celebrating our most precious natural resource: water! We want everybody to know about the water-saving toolkit Gilbert provides to help residents, schools, businesses, HOAs, and others use water wisely. In fact, we are so excited about water conservation in our community that we’ll be offering prizes all month. Here’s how it works:

Explore the Gilbert Water Conservation toolkit to learn how you can save water:

  • Water Checkup
Painful water bill? Schedule a free water checkup and we'll diagnose the problem.
  • Water Calculator
See how much water your household needs. Compare the results with your actual water use to see if you have room for savings.
  • Water Wise Gilbert
Learn about the businesses that are doing their part to save water here in the desert.
  • Water Budgets for Large Landscapes
Reduce water costs while maintaining a thriving common area landscape. In 2016, HOAs participating in this program cumulatively saved 97 million gallons of water and reduced their water costs by nearly $200,000.

Mayor Jenn Daniels is leading Gilbert in participation of the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation. Cities across the nation will compete to see who can be the most water wise by asking their residents to pledge online to conserve water, energy, and other natural resources. It’s easy:

  1. During April 1-30, go to
  2. Take a conservation pledge as a resident of Gilbert
  3. See how your pledge improved our national standing
  4. Encourage your friends to take part

Win local prizes: Gilbert will be running a weekly competition during the month of April to spread the word about water conservation. Stay tuned to Facebook and Instagram to see how you can win gift cards to local Water Wise Gilbert restaurants.

Win national prizes: Participants in the winning cities are eligible to win hundreds of prizes. Last year, the challenge awarded more than $50,000 in prizes to nearly 1,000 residents in U.S. cities. You can win a Toyota Prius, home irrigation kits, home improvement store gift cards, and more! Plus you can help Gilbert win the Grand Prize. Learn more here.
