Community Outreach & Education

Gilbert Fire & Rescue is proud to offer several community outreach programs including station tours, car seat clinics and safety classes.

Protecting Older Residents: Preventing Falls

Gilbert Fire & Rescue’s number one call for service is falls, and residents age 65 years and older are the most at risk. In fact, an older adult dies from a fall every 20 minutes in the United States, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

That’s why Gilbert Fire & Rescue is teaming up with Dignity Health Trauma Services to develop prevention strategies and community programs to help educate and empower older residents.

Think you or a loved one may be at risk for falling? Take this quiz to find out.

Pre-Construction Meeting - South Recharge Facility Percolation Enhancement Project

  • Date: 06/15/2016 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
  • Location: South Recharge Facility - Front Parking Lot
    5373 S. Higley Rd.
    Gilbert, Arizona
  • Introduction: Gilbert invites residents to learn more about the project to increase the rate of recharge in the basins in the South Recharge Facility.
Gilbert will soon begin construction on a project to increase the rate of recharge in the basins in the South Recharge Facility, allowing the facility to operate in a more sustainable, efficient manner. The project includes drilling approximately three holes per acre, 4-feet wide and 30-50 feet deep, which will then be filled with gravel. Increased percolation rates from this improvement will allow staff to rotate the filling and drying cycle through each basin every few days, resulting in less water lost to evaporation and significantly reducing the period of time each basin holds water.

Construction is scheduled to begin June 22 and complete October 2016. Work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.

We invite residents to join us for a pre-construction meeting to provide information and answer questions:
