Community Outreach & Education

Gilbert Fire & Rescue is proud to offer several community outreach programs including station tours, car seat clinics and safety classes.

Protecting Older Residents: Preventing Falls

Gilbert Fire & Rescue’s number one call for service is falls, and residents age 65 years and older are the most at risk. In fact, an older adult dies from a fall every 20 minutes in the United States, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

That’s why Gilbert Fire & Rescue is teaming up with Dignity Health Trauma Services to develop prevention strategies and community programs to help educate and empower older residents.

Think you or a loved one may be at risk for falling? Take this quiz to find out.

Check back soon for information on community programs and take a moment to explore the data to see a statistical breakdown of falls in Gilbert.

National Food Day, at the Farm at Agritopia

Come celebrate National Food Day, at the Farm at Agritopia! Bring a friend or the kiddos, and tour the gorgeous farm grounds with the founder, Joe Johnston! Joe has been pioneering Agritopia from the beginning, and wants to invite Localists in for a "B.Y.O.B" (Bring Your Own Blanket) picnic to celebrate the amazing farmers of Arizona.
Arrive at 10AM Saturday morning, where you will be greeted by Joe and the Head Farmer Erich Schultz. Indulge in coffee and homemade scones from The Coffee Shop at Agritopia featuring dates from the farm, and mini muffins for any little localists. After the interactive tour, lay your blanket on the grass and enjoy lunch from Liberty Market (vegetarian options available!). Make sure to bring a water bottle too!
Local First Arizona believes in healthy local food, and can't wait to celebrate Food Day 2015 with you!
