Community Outreach & Education

Gilbert Fire & Rescue is proud to offer several community outreach programs including station tours, car seat clinics and safety classes.

Protecting Older Residents: Preventing Falls

Gilbert Fire & Rescue’s number one call for service is falls, and residents age 65 years and older are the most at risk. In fact, an older adult dies from a fall every 20 minutes in the United States, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

That’s why Gilbert Fire & Rescue is teaming up with Dignity Health Trauma Services to develop prevention strategies and community programs to help educate and empower older residents.

Think you or a loved one may be at risk for falling? Take this quiz to find out.

Check back soon for information on community programs and take a moment to explore the data to see a statistical breakdown of falls in Gilbert.

Gilbert Feeding Families Food Drive Kick-Off Event

GilbertFeedingFamilies_LogoThis May, Gilbert will be hosting the annual Gilbert Feeding Families community food drive with the goal of feeding all 72.6 square miles of the town by collecting 72,600 meals.

Please join us for the Gilbert Feeding Families Kick-Off event on Tuesday, April 28th, at 7:30 a.m. at the Albertsons located on Lindsay and Warner Roads in Gilbert.  We are kicking off this community food drive with a friendly bag-off competition between the town, county, state and federal levels of leadership. This event is open to the public.

The bag-off event will consist of teams of two people (elected official and another person of choice) and each team will have 60 seconds to bag as many groceries as possible. One team member will be the bagger, the other will be placing the bagged groceries in a nearby grocery cart.  After the 60-second time limit is up, the bags will be weighed to determine the Gilbert Feeding Families Bag-Off Champion.
