Street Light Out -

The Town of Gilbert maintains approximately 20,000 street lights with a crew of three full time staff who work 5am – 3:30pm Monday through Friday.  We rely on our residents to assist the Town with maintenance of our street light poles by reporting outages when they are noticed.  There is no charge for the service and/or repair of street lights.

photo, Lights at Morrison on Recker Rd.Prior to submitting a request for service, you must confirm the following. If you are unsure, please call 480-503-6434 and we will verify your residential status.

  • You reside in a newly built subdivision. Your developer maintains your street lights until the newly developed property has been released to the Town. 
  • You are a resident of a private HOA (Home Owner’s Association). HOA solely maintains your streets, street lights and infrastructure. 

    After verifying your residential status, please provide all of the information mentioned below:
  • An accurate daytime phone contact of the person calling in the outage. 
  • The street light pole number.  The number is generally located at 6 feet up and facing the street side of the pole. For a number of reasons, not all street light poles are marked with an identification number. 
  • The main cross streets closest to the pole that needs servicing.
  • A home or business address closest to the pole that needs servicing.

The decision of whether to approve a request to alter a streetlight shall be at the discretion of the Town. The approval of your neighbors and a $70.00 service fee will be charged and must be collected prior to any work being scheduled. For more information, please download the following application below, or call 480-503-6400 (Monday through Thursday, 7am-6pm).

The Town will consider several factors prior to approving a request:

  • location of the streetlight
  • safety issues
  • the extent to which light from a streetlight extends onto private property 

Traffic Signal Outage or Malfunction - Please report these immediate to our customer care center Monday-Thursdays 7-6pm at (480) 503-6800; all other times to the Gilbert Police department (480) 503-6500.

The Town of Gilbert considers this an emergency issue and encourages residents to contact the town immediately for a quick resolution.


Traffic Signal Timing

If you feel that the timing cycle – how long you wait at a particular signal before it changes – needs to be reviewed, please complete the online form below or call 480-503-6919.   You may also call public works at 480-503-6400 (Monday through Thursday, 7am-6pm) and a customer service representative will be happy to assist you.

The Town of Gilbert maintains over 900 center lane miles of road with year-round preventative maintenance.   We rely on our residents to assist us in reporting areas in need of repair. 

If you notice a pothole, you will need to provide all of the information below:

  • Nearest main intersection cross streets
  • North, South, East or West lane indicator
  • Left or right lane indicator
  • Any physical landmark nearby that would aid in readily locating the pothole. For example: to the left of a fire hydrant – five feet east of a large Palo Verde tree – in front of yellow house with address, etc.

Debris in Roadway - Please report these immediate to our customer care center Monday-Thursdays 7-6pm at (480) 503-6800; all other times to the Gilbert Police department (480) 503-6500.

The Town of Gilbert considers this an emergency issue and encourages residents to contact the town immediately for a quick resolution.

Debris left in the roadway after a traffic accident or a storm may present a traffic hazard. Please call 480-503-6400 (Monday through Thursday, 7am-6pm) to report debris in roadways. If after hours, please call the non-emergency police dispatch number 480-503-6500.


Dead Animal in Roadway - Please report these immediate to our customer care center Monday-Thursdays 7-6pm at (480) 503-6800; all other times to the Gilbert Police department (480) 503-6500.

The Town of Gilbert considers this an emergency issue and encourages residents to contact the town immediately for a quick resolution.

Incidents of dead animals on our roadways should be called into our Public Works Customer Service Center at 480-503-6400.   After hours, you can call the non-emergency police dispatch number 480-503-6500.  In either case, please provide the following information:

  • Good description of the animal type (dog, cat) color, size and breed (if known)
  • Location information that includes main cross streets, N, S, E or W bound lane and left or right lane identifiers.

NOTE: As a reminder, Town of Gilbert staff is not allowed to enter private property to retrieve a dead animal.  Death of a family pet should be addressed privately.  The Town does not provide dead animal pick up and disposal services to residents.
