Rib Eating Contest Pits Police Against Firefighters: Come support your local heroes and their charities.

 CAR THEFT PREVENTION:


  Because vehicle burglary is the most common crime in Gilbert, make sure you
adhere to the 'SMART' Driver principals:

    Secure your vehicle inside your garage or park in a well lit area. Make sure you have taken all of your personal property out of the vehicle. Always make copies of the documents you leave in your glove compartment and black out your address. Remember to take your keys, garage door opener and radio face plates with you. Take the time to lock your vehicle and set your alarm. Learn about the auto theft reduction program.

FREE CHILD ID EVENT

Register now for the next Child ID event, Saturday, July 24, 9 a.m. - noon. The Gilbert Police Crime Prevention Unit will host the free clinic at 75 E. Civic Center Drive. Call (480) 635-7521 or (480) 635-7520 or (480) 635-7522 to schedule

 


 

Come support your favorite heroes in the annual Police vs Firefighters Rib Eating Contest, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at Texas Roadhouse, 5086 S. Power Road (Power and Ray), Gilbert. Ten percent of proceeds from the entire day goes to the winner's charity. Learn more.

OTHER FUNDRAISERS:

Donate nonperishable food to United Food Bank at Town facilities now through June 28. Learn what they need and where to go.

A back to school supply drive begins July 1 at Town facilities, more details to be announced.


GILBERT K9 A "TOP DOG"

Officer Ben Lavis and his partner,
Police K9 Mike, won Second Place honors in the Top Dog competition at the annual Desert Dog K9 Trials. The event puts the officers and their canine partners through rigorous exercises, testing their ability to catch suspects in even the most difficult situations – from moving cars to racing through buildings. Officer Lavis and Mike also placed Fourth in the Building Search. Lavis's semi-retired K9, Barca, placed Fourth in the Explosives division.
