Environment award
Wastewater Superintendent Mark Horn was honored with the Arizona Water Association 2010 Environmental
Stewardship Award, in gratitude to contributions
that protect and enhance the water and wastewater environment in Arizona.

Gilbert's latest Water Quality Report is now available online, and arriving at homes in the final print edition of Your Town. It demonstrates that we continue to meet and exceed water safety and quality standards.

The report also details where our water comes from, and how we ensure it remains safe to drink. The Town now has two water treatment plants, with the addition of the Santan Vista Water Treatment Plant.

Much of the water we use to drink,
bathe, wash our cars, water our lawns and swim in comes from rain and snowmelt that collects in lakes and reservoirs north of our valley. We also receive water from the Colorado River through the Central Arizona Project canal system.

The report also offers ideas and information on how to conserve water and help us maintain our precious water supply into the future.

Water Wise Plants

Casesalpinias, also known as Bird of Paradise, make the landscape come alive with color. Their large bright flowers provide vibrant color for long periods of time. The shades of yellow, fiery red, and orange contrast with the feathery foliage. They thrive in the desert heat and can survive on little supplemental irrigation.
