Your tree is valuable even after the season is through and the ornaments are removed. Gilbert provides resident a free live tree recycle service for cut trees, which are then turned into mulch and recycled. Donating a tree helps divert useable green waste from ending up in landfills.

Conserving water is important to us all in Arizona. We often think about it mostly in the summer months when our water bills are higher because our landscapes need more water. During the wintertime it is easy to let your water use fall off the radar. This is especially easy to do when you add in the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the holidays.

RECYCLE BATTERIES, TURKEY GREASE - AT UNIQUE TOWN FACILITY: Holiday time means many of us will be dealing with new toys that take batteries. Did you know that Gilbert will recycle all kinds of batteries, from alkaline to car batteries? Just take them to the Town’s unique facility meant just for recycling, reusing and disposing of our hazardous wastes. Learn more.
ROLL OFFS AVAILABLE: Gilbert offers residents large roll-off bins for landscaping and home projects. The large convenient bins come in several sizes and can be delivered to make large projects easy. Learn more.

PUBLIC WORKS ADOPTS FAMILIES
This year was a big year for the Public Works Department, who now act as the "eyes and ears" of the Police Department. Already on the streets doing their daily work serving our neighborhoods and getting to know our communities, they are able to spot suspicious activity and report it to officers.
This season they also directly gave back to the community, raising $1,500 to make the holidays happier for five Gilbert families – purchasing food and gifts. This year and every year we enjoy being a part of the Gilbert community.
RECYCLE FROM HOME: Gilbert is helping Town residents to divert reusable green waste – such as grass, leaves and even lettuce – by composting it at home and using as soil. The Town provides free compost bins, made from recycled materials, to residents interested in helping reuse and recycle green waste. The effort also helps save costs of delivering reusable green waste to landfills.

Wise Plants
Acacias include a diverse group of arid region landscape plants ranging from trees to shrubs to groundcovers. Acacias offer shade, screening, and spectacular flower shows for your landscape, depending upon the plant selected. They are primarily full sun plants and tolerate a variety of soil conditions. Tree acacias require infrequent, yet periodic deep watering to develop a healthy root system.
