Commander Ken Buckland Biography

photo, Ken BucklandCommander Kenny Buckland is a native of Arizona. Commander Buckland was born in Phoenix and attended school in Tempe, graduating from Marcos de Niza High School. Commander Buckland has a black belt in Judo, which he obtained in 1986. Commander Buckland attended Northern Arizona University (NAU) and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice in 1990.

Commander Buckland joined the Prescott Police Department in 1992 and three years later, joined the Gilbert Police Department where he still serves. In 2003, Commander Buckland again graduated from NAU with a Master's degree in Educational Leadership. In 2005, he graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and in September of 2010, graduated from the FBI National Academy, 242nd Session.

Currently, Commander Buckland serves as the President of the Senate appointee to the DUI Abatement Council. He volunteers weekly as a Judo and wrestling coach to kids. In Gilbert, he has worked in and managed several areas of the Gilbert Police Department. This includes patrol, bike patrol, training, traffic enforcement, special investigations and special operations. Presently, Commander Buckland is serving as the Special Operations Division Commander. This includes management of Tactical Operations Section, Special Enforcement Section, and the Criminal Investigations Section.
