K-9 Kimbo
Police
Service Dog Kimbo retired on September 15, 2004, after serving as a patrol
and narcotic detector dog with the Gilbert Police Department for six and
a half years. Kimbo ended his illustrious career after several hundred
patrol and narcotics detection deployments. Kimbo was best known for his
four, shiny titanium crowned, canine teeth after all four canine teeth
had been broken in training accidents.
During his career Kimbo won numerous trophies in Police K-9 competitions here in Arizona and in Las Vegas. Kimbo retirement was precipitated by a hip injury during a training exercise. After the injury his desire to work seemed to dissipate. He will spend his retirement years at his handler, Officer Todd Johnson's, residence.
