Gilbert Police Commendations

Very Proactive and Very Hepful

On 01/25/2013, Officer First responded to the call I placed in regards to a wallet which I believed I had lost while pumping gas at the Circle K listed above. I got to my next stop, ULTA, on Market St. in Gilbert and realized when I went to pay that I did not have my wallet. I went back to my car, searched it and outside the car and could not find it. I returned to the Circle K knowing I had used my debit card to purchase gas and asked at the counter if a wallet had been turned in, but it had not. I then called the Gilbert Police and Officer First responded. He reviewed the surveillance tape. It appeared that several people had since used that pump, but if it had been there, did not notice it. Then, someone pulled up to that pump, got out, bent over and then got back in the car and drove off. He could not tell what he picked up nor the license plate, because of the sun glare on the back of the car. I received a call this morning from Onstar saying they had an employee from Bed, Bath and Beyond on the phone saying that a customer had turned in the wallet they found in the parking lot on the day of the incident. I have picked up the wallet and it was completely intact. I have called the department and spoke to an officer to let the department know it was retrieved. The reason for this e-mail is to tell you that Officer Pillar was so kind to me when taking the report. I have been seriously ill and had just received an IV infusion treatment and was very shaken over this incident. He could not have been more helpful or patient and kind. I want you to know he was very proactive and very, very helpful to me and to my husband who left work and came while Officer First was investigating. I think he is a wonderful example and representative of the Gilbert Police Dept., and wanted to let him and his supervisor to know how much I appreciated his thoroughness, and most especially his kindness. I hope that this note of appreciation will be put in his file and also expressed to him and his supervisors. I wish him the best in his career, and will never forget his kindness. You are lucky to have someone like him representing the department. My thanks and gratitude go out to him. Thank you! N. Hammer
