Gilbert, Ariz. – At the November 15th Town Council Meeting, the Gilbert Town Council approved a change order to the existing contract with CH2M HILL Engineers, Inc. to provide additional temporary staffing augmentation for Gilbert’s Water operations. This new contract will provide an interim Water Manager and additional staff support for the Water Quality division. The Town of Gilbert’s water supply is and always has been safe and in compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Town believes strongly that this next step of collaboration with CH2M HILL will help us achieve our vision of a truly best in class water operation.
The Town Council also approved a construction services contract with PCL Construction, Inc. for construction of the North Water Treatment Plant fluoride injection system. Although the Town had previously hoped to have construction completed by the end of 2012, the extensive design process for the system and the additional safety features added have extended the construction schedule to a new projected completion date of March 3, 2013.

Gilbert, Ariz. (September 6, 2012) – Management recently became aware that fluoridation of the Gilbert water supply as adopted by Gilbert residents was not being performed for at least the last 13 months at the North Water Treatment Plant. The Town of Gilbert is currently taking steps to review our Water Production and Water Quality operations to ensure best management practices are in place.
At tonight's Council Meeting, Town management is recommending a short term contract with CH2M HILL Engineers, Inc., http://www.ch2m.com/corporate/, to conduct an independent evaluation of all aspects of our water production and quality operations. CH2M HILL is a global leader in consulting, design, design-build, operations and program management. Budgeted contingency funds will be utilized for this contract. This will not impact rates or any other operational issues.
In addition, Carollo Engineers has been retained by the Town to design and provide construction administration to the system repairs and upgrades to the existing Fluoridation system at the North Water Treatment Plant. Design is expected to be complete within 30 days, tentatively by the end of September. Construction is expected to take 30 to 60 days once the design is approved.
