Gilbert: Efficiency in Action

Town efforts to save time and resources

The Town of Gilbert is committed to Continuous Quality Improvement, a culture that empowers staff members to use their own knowledge and experiences to look for ways to cut costs and improve efficiencies in order to do even more with less.  This regular update is the latest improvements generated by Town of Gilbert employees who are dedicated to serving the Town we love. The focus of CQI is to continuously improve the way we serve our customers.

Gilbert as a Good Value

  • • Among lowest taxes and utility rates in region.
  • • Lowest staff to resident ratio.
  • • Always striving to do more with less.

Quicker refunds in Community Services: Linda Tunney with Community Services worked with Finance Department staff members Beverly Brower and Grace Butcher to create an online refund form for credit card or check payments. This improvement allows customers to receive their refund more quickly, and has cut down on staff time spent on a paper process. The innovation even has an added bonus, that finance staff can use the form to generate their needed vendor maintenance forms, saving additional staff time.

Saving $15,000 Re-Using Well Parts: Chad Cox, Matt Biewer, Gene Schmidt, Joe Smith of the Public Works Division determined a way to use piping, supports and valve infrastructure from a Well no longer in use, while rehabilitating a Well in use. Making use of these materials and doing in-house labor saved the Town $15,000 in the update.
