The Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS)Palo-verde is located approximately fifty-five miles west of downtown Phoenix in Maricopa County. It is located on 4,080 acres of land near the town of Wintersburg, Arizona.

Public health and safety is the primary concern of the Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management in the event of an incident occurring at PVNGS. The State of Arizona and Maricopa County prepare and maintain a joint “Offsite Emergency Response Plan for the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station” to ensure a coordinated response to protect the public from the effects of radiation exposure in the event of an incident having offsite consequences.  Click here to read more on Palo Verde at the Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management.
