Welcome. Backflow Prevention is part of the Inspection & Compliance Services Division. As required by state code, the Town of Gilbert has a cross-connection program known as Backflow Prevention. Backflow is the undesirable reversal flow of water or mixtures of water with other liquids, gases or other substances into the distribution pipes of the potable supply of water from any source or sources. This process could either occur from backsiphonage or backpressure.

The Backflow Prevention Division administers the requirements of Gilbert Ordinance No. 869, the revised statutes of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Administrative Code, section R18-4-215, the International Plumbing Code and guidelines of the University of Southern California Foundation for Cross Connection Control and Hydraulic Research.
