High Pollution Advisory for 12/25

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued a High Pollution Advisory (HPA) for PM-2.5 (smoke/fine particulate matter pollution) effective Wednesday, December 25, 2013. As a result, Maricopa County has issued No Burn Day restrictions effective December 25, 2013. (No Burn Day restrictions are also in effect Tuesday, Dec 24, 2013 due to a "Health Watch.")

Everyone, especially those with respiratory illness should restrict their outdoor activities.

** EMPLOYERS--ACTIVATE YOUR HPA PLAN**
No-Burn Day

Here's what you can do:

• Eliminate wood burning in fireplaces, stoves, chimineas and outdoor fire pits.

• Avoid activities that produce smoke or exhaust.

• Limit strenuous outdoor activities.

• Reduce driving or combine trips. Ride the bus, light rail, carpool or telework if possible.

Report serious offenders to the Maricopa County Air Quality Department at 602.506.6010.
