VIDEO: Gilbert Days Parade Carries on Town Tradition

Post Date:12/12/2013
Gilbert, Ariz. - Under beautiful blue skies, the Gilbert Days Parade marched on, bringing hundreds of residents to downtown Gilbert to enjoy an annual tradition.

“We love the feeling of community in Gilbert. It’s just such a great thing,” said Melanie Shaha, “We were sad that the rain cancelled the parade and thrilled that it was rescheduled.”

The parade was hosted on December 7th after a two-week delay due to rain, but it still drew crowds of people to watch the floats, musical entertainment, and honored veterans highlighted in the event.

“I don’t believe we’ve missed one,” said Herman Kloock, who has lived in Gilbert for the past 14 years. He’s one of many people who enjoy time spent with neighbors in the heart of the Heritage District for the event.

The Gilbert Town Council was also on scene, walking the parade route with their families. Vice Mayor Ben Cooper says he has played several roles in the parade over the years, from marching band member to announcer.

“It’s a terrific tradition for the entire town and it has great personal memories for me,” said Cooper.

The Gilbert Days Parade has been a town tradition for several decades.
